ABOUT ME

Her research areas involve plant pathology and food safety. Dr. Avila is a member of the National Research System Level 1 of CONACYT, and  was president of the Mexican Society of Plant Pathology 2008-2010. She was Chairwoman of the National Advisory Phytosanitary Council in 2008 and has been Vice-president in 2007.

Due to her research aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda to eradicate hunger, conserve the planet's natural resources and guarantee prosperity for all, she was invited by the Mexican Federal Government to serve as the Executive Secretary of the National System for Research and Technology Transfer (SNITT) where she compiled and edited the National Agenda for Research, Innovation and Transfer of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture in Mexico (SAGARPA) in 2015 www.gob.mx/cms/uploads/attachment/file/271099/SNITT.pdf
 
 
During her trajectory she has designed national calls for research proposals, as well as evaluated national projects of SEP-Conacyt (Basic Science), and Sagarpa-Conacyt. She is an Associate Editor of the Mexican Journal of Phytopathology, also, an active member of the Mexican Society of Phytopathology (SMF), and member of the Agricultural Engineers Parasitologists (IAP Mexico).
She was vice-president of the National Phytosanitary Advisory Council (CONACOFI) in Mexico.

AWARDS AND DISTINCTIONS 

  • Chihuahuan Award for Outstanding Woman in Science in 2011. "Esther Orozco", Mexico. Given by the H. Congress of the Chihuahua State LXIII Legislature.​

  • Third place in research production in 2009; Third place in 2005 and second place in 2004 in the Research Center for Food and Development.​

​

  • Award Colegio de Postgraduados 2000 to the Avocado Research Group (GIA). Texcoco, State of Mexico.
